The design concept of the Nam Kwong Diehu Center is derived from the Diehu Lake, also known as the butterfly lake. The twin towers of the complex mimic the two wings of a butterfly, signifying Qidong City's development and welcoming the first light on the east side. The complex is strategically located next to the lake, the main landscape of the central axis, and is divided into three parts: a working and commercial area, and two residential areas.
The uniqueness of this design lies in its location and inspiration. The project site is adjacent to the Qidong Cultural and Sports Center and has a significant advantage of being in the Diehu Park plot. The complex aims to create an iconic landmark for Qidong City. The butterfly form of the twin towers expresses the inheritance of the times and the city's transformation.
The technology used in realizing this design is equally impressive. With the objective of creating a "backyard of Shanghai and Qidong Citizens' Leisure Circle, as well as a Great Healthy Ideal Community", the complex integrates ecological residences with fitness parks. The project is a testament to the new lifestyle that Qidong City is embracing.
The complex covers a total area of 304,000 square meters and is close to the Qidong Municipal Government. The area is set to become the central business district of Qidong New City in the future. From the landmark twin towers, one can enjoy the panoramic view of the Diehu Lake, making it a stunning addition to the city's skyline.
Designed in April 2019, the project is yet to be built. However, it has already garnered attention and accolades. The Nam Kwong Diehu Center was awarded the Golden A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2022, a testament to its outstanding and trendsetting design.
In conclusion, the Nam Kwong Diehu Center, with its butterfly-inspired design and strategic location, is set to transform the landscape of Qidong City. This architectural marvel by Peng Architects not only symbolizes the city's transformation but also paves the way for a new lifestyle, making it a true icon of modern architecture.
